Raw Vegan Diet: How to Start One and Be Successful
Changing to a raw vegan diet has some amazing health benefits that you will notice almost immediately. Some of the benefits you will notice include more energy, clearer skin and loss of excess weight. However, making the switch can be difficult for many different reasons. For starts, switching to a raw vegan diet involves learning a new way of preparing food that no longer centers on cooking it. However, it also means developing new tastes and trying new foods that have different textures and flavors than what you grew up with. There are, however, some ways to help make your switch to a raw vegan diet easier and more successful:
1) Learn the right recipes. There are literally thousands of raw vegan and raw food diet recipes you can learn, but for those making the initial switch, you may have the most success by creating raw vegan recipes similar to the cooked foods you like the best. There are raw vegan recipes for even some traditional “comfort food” and junk food favorites like pizza, chips and burgers. The vegan raw food versions will not taste exactly like their cooked counterparts, but they should have a similar flavor and make transitioning better, and they will also be much healthy for you than the cooked versions.
2) Be Snack Ready. For those transitioning to a raw vegan diet, one of the biggest detractors is often the failure to feel “full” and the desire to snack. This is in part a result of our tendency to overeat at most meals (especially in the United States), but you can easily remedy this by making sure you prepare plenty of raw vegan diet snacks each day and have them easily available for whenever the snack urge hits.
3) Make the transition gradually. Don’t try changing completely to a raw vegan diet on a single day. Instead gradually transition over a week, or even a month, to the diet. Start by replacing one cooked meal a day with a raw version (plus plenty of raw vegan snacks) and then gradually work up to having all your meals uncooked. Hopefully these tips will help you be successful when transitioning to a raw vegan diet.
